Quickly Jump to a Date in Outlook with This Shortcut
Instead of scrolling through the month or week views of your Outlook calendar to find a date, use the Go to Date feature to quickly jump to it.
The How-To Geek highlights this shortcut, which works in both Outlook 2013 and earlier versions. Simply hit Ctrl+G for the Go To Date dialog box. You can navigate a monthly calendar in the window via the drop-down box or, better yet, just type in the date you want to go to. It works for both "June 5" and natural language like "next week" or "third Monday in June."
You can also access the Go To Date option in the ribbon view (look for the Go To command and the small down arrow), but to save the most time, just remember the Ctrl+G keyboard shortcut.

Tara Marathon : The most difficult race in Serbia
Hello, on August 17th 2013, you’ll be organizing the Tara Marathon. Can you tell us where it is located?
Tara Marathon 2013 will be organized on the Tara Mountain, in western Serbia. As the Tara Mountain, almost 40 years ago, was declared as a national park, nature is almost intact. Beautiful landscapes, ancient forests, clear rivers, mountain lakes and many rare species of plants and animals are the main features of the area. Many people say that this place is “the place where beauty begins.”
This will be the first edition of the race. What were your motivations for creating it?
The desire to present outstanding natural beauties, historical monuments and rich cultural heritage, to all competitors and participants of Marathon, was the main motivation for organizing this race.
Source : Tara Marathon
What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it?
For the first edition of the race we planned to start in Bajina Basta, the beautiful small town at the foot of the mountain Tara, on the banks of the Drina River. In front of the competitors is 96 kilometers of very difficult track, with a total climb of 4,500 meters. The best way to describe the route is to say that the route is a mix of hot macadam with plenty of attractive mountain trails. It will be a great challenge for all competitors.
The route is rich with quick downhill and steep and long climbs, so the strategy and distribution of power on track will play a very important role. On the entire length of the route, the competitors will find great viewpoints, rivers, lakes, historical monuments, beautiful landscapes…
How many runners do you expect on Saturday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract?
We hope that on Saturday, at the start of the first Tara Marathon, there will be around 300 runners eager for new challenges and exploring new, uncharted areas. Except professional athletes, we expect a significant number of amateurs from Serbia and abroad.
Do you organize other races during the Weekend? If so, on what distances?
During the Marathon weekend, we organize two more races: Tara Challenge (53 km and a 2,600 m elevation gain) and Tara Cross (27.4 km and 1,300 m).
Source : Tara Marathon
At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect?
Marathon is held during the summer, in August, when temperatures during the day on the mountain, reach 25 – 30°C (77-86°F). We hope for a beautiful, sunny day and the first twilight about 8:00 PM. During the night the temperature in the mountains falls to about 10 – 15°C (50-59°F).
Have you planned festivities around the marathon?
In addition to the race, we planned lots of interesting happenings, before and after the Marathon. Riding school, as well as mountain bike tours are designed for all the days of Marathon weekend, starting with the Thursday, August 15th. On Saturday we have planned an interesting hiking tour, and a great music party at the town square, in Bajina Basta. On Sunday, after the victory ceremony, we organize a 13 km river rafting on the Drina from lake Perucac to Bajina Basta.
Source : Tara Marathon
The race finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Bajina Basta before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing?
The warm hospitality of the people, excellent national cuisine, beautiful nature will touch you in your heart. During the day you can enjoy one of two large lakes and the city swimming pool on the banks of the river Drina.
You can visit some of the numerous viewpoints on the mountain like Crnjeskovo, Banjska stena, or explore the history of this beautiful area. In the evening, lots of fun can be found in many bars and restaurants with great food. Amazing views of the green waters of the Drina River, Local food and drinks at the restaurant "Studenac”, with a great Marathon, will make this weekend a weekend to remember.
In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of ahotu Marathons to make them register for the Tara Marathon?
Dear runners, become a part of history with us in the first edition of Tara Marathon! Take the challenge, face the mountains, and beat yourself, in the most difficult race in Serbia. Become a part of the place where the beauty starts!

Google's Roll It Chrome Experiment brings skee ball to your phone and browser
Google's continuing to romance the casual gaming world with the unveiling of Roll It, the company's latest Chrome Experiment. The title emulates that old boardwalk classic skee ball, utilizing your smartphone to aim and pitch the ball and the browser to emulate the familiar ring-sporting game alley. You can also play along with friends by sharing your handset, because there's nothing sadder in this world than solitary skee ball. Google's pitching Roll It, along with the recently announced Racer, as "a hint of what's possible when web experiences are designed for a multi-player (and multi-device) world." In the meantime, you can access the game at the source link below -- or just check out a demo video after the break.

Add Comments to a Formula in Excel for Your Future Reference
Comments in Excel come in handy for documenting your spreadsheet so you can remember what all the formulas are for or to provide instructions for other spreadsheet users. The How-To Geek points out a special function you can use to add a comment directly in the formula cell.
This is the N() function. To use it, just add a plus sign after your formula and whatever you want as your comment in quotes within the function, as in the screenshot above. Then, whenever you click on that cell, you'll see both the formula and your comment on it. The function works in Excel 2013 and earlier versions.
Excel users probably already know the other way to add a comment to a cell—through the "Insert a Comment" command. That creates a sticky-note-like comment that pops up when you mouse over the cell.
The N() function above is better if you don't want those comments and red triangles cluttering your spreadsheet and you're adding comments for your personal use.
Additionally, the comments show up when you search Excel, so you could use the N() function to "tag" cells with formulas for easy reference later (e.g., "Q2 budget" or "estimate").

More Biopic Actors and their Real Life Counterparts

Trolltunga
I always like to end my blogging morning with a good image at the top of the page. Here's another photo of this famous rock formation (named because of its resemblance to a troll's tongue):
It is located near Odda and the Hardanger Fjord, well south of the Fjaerland Fjord where my ancestors lived.

How Does a Baby Giraffe Sleep?
Duh! With its eyes closed, of course! Take a look at these cute photos of baby giraffes sleeping, using their own bodies as pillows for their heads, courtesy of their loooong necks (except the last one, whose head I think plopped to the ground in the sleep).
Next question: Do they wake up with a giant crick in their necks? (Images: Imgur - via Lost at E Minor)

GText Syncs Your Android's Text Messages Directly with Gmail
Chrome: Although Gmail can already send and receive text messages, it doesn't sync with your Android smartphone. Gtext, an extension from previously mentioned MightyText, sends and receives texts directly in Gmail using your mobile phone number. Since DeskSMS might not be taking new users, this is a great alternative just in time.
Just like MightyText—rightfully billed as the iMessage of Android—every SMS (and MMS) you send from Gmail syncs up with your smartphone (presuming you have the Android app installed, too). The interface works just like chat in Gmail, only you're actually sending text messages. You also get a handy "Compose SMS" button right beneath the standard email compose button you're used to. If you already have MightyText installed, you'll get up and running in about 10 seconds. If not, installing the app won't take much longer. For those of you who spend a lot of time in Gmail and hate switching to your phone to text, this Chrome extension is a must-install.

"Life Is a Question, and Your Choices Are Your Answer"
Are the choices you're making each day leading you to where you want your life to go? That's the big question posed by this quote from author and real estate franchise founder Gary Keller.
This quote, "Life is a question, and your choices are your answer," comes from Keller's co-authored book, The One Thing, which is all about focusing on what matters most to you and what will make the biggest difference in your life.
As Vickie Elmer writes on her WorkingKind blog, the quote teaches us to ask ourselves how our lives can really change the world:
Choose the place where you will be extraordinary, where you will have thousands of believers and your bosses will find others to handle the less important tasks on your plate because they’re so impressed with your ‘One Thing.'
Vickie's blog post is chock full of other great quotes from Keller, including: "The smaller I make my life, the bigger it gets."
If you find life pulling you in all sorts of directions, now's the time to take stock and create more focused answers.

Google uses computer vision and machine learning to index your photos
Tags are so 2008. Google doesn't want you to waste time tagging your photos, except for the people in them. The web giant wants to be able to recognize more abstract concepts like "sunset" or "beach" automatically and attach that metadata without further input. In yet another post-I/O update, Google+ photos now uses computer vision and machine learning to identify objects and settings in your uploaded snapshots. You can simply search for "my photos of trees" or "Tim's photos of bikes" and get surprisingly accurate results, with nary a manually added tag in sight. You can perform the searches in Google+, obviously, but you can also execute your query from the standard Google search page. It's pretty neat, but sadly Mountain View seems to have forgotten what cats look like.

"Never Just Remember How to Do Something, Understand How It Works"
When you know how to do something, you have a skill. When you understand how something works, you can alter that knowledge and adapt it for your best uses. This gives you confidence and the ability to grow.
It's also the best piece of advice developer Matrin Rue received from his grandfather. He explains its importance:
If you simply remember how to do something, then all you can do is use it the same way over and over, but if you understand how it works, you can reason about it. Once you can reason about something in your mind you can contemplate why it is the way it is, you can apply your entire creative mind to making the most of it, and you can implement and question improvement – you own it intellectually.
Information only gets you so far. Learn how things work and you can expand upon them infinitely.
